Journey Beyond Borders: Discover, Explore, Experience

A Quick Jaunt to Shenzhen

During my recent stay in Hong Kong, I decided to take a day trip to Shenzhen, China. I hopped on the MTR from Central Hong Kong to the Lo Wu station, where the border crossing was surprisingly efficient. With Poland’s visa exemption, I was through in no time, but it’s worth noting that wait times can vary.

First impressions? A dated shopping mall greeted me on the other side, offering a modest meal of dumplings—decent enough for a quick bite. But the true highlight was venturing into downtown Shenzhen. I headed to the top (96th floor) of the luxurious St. Regis Shenzhen, a five-star experience with a view to match. Enjoying a cup of tea that set me back £35—the priciest brew of my life—I soaked in the breathtaking cityscape.

For anyone in Hong Kong looking for a change of scenery, Shenzhen offers a glimpse into China’s modern pulse—just be prepared for a pricey cup of tea!
