Rome is a city that I’ve had the pleasure of visiting seven times before, but this recent trip was special—it was my father’s first time experiencing the Eternal City. With its blend of ancient history, stunning architecture, and vibrant atmosphere, Rome never disappoints, and this weekend was no exception.
We set out to explore all the key landmarks that make Rome such an iconic destination. From the awe-inspiring Colosseum to the grandeur of the Roman Forum, each step felt like we were walking through history. We also ventured into Vatican City, where the beauty of St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel left us in awe. My father was particularly struck by the scale and magnificence of it all, which made sharing these moments together even more meaningful. The weather couldn’t have been better—warm and sunny, making every outdoor stroll all the more enjoyable.
For accommodation, we decided to stay somewhere a little different. Instead of a traditional hotel, we chose hu Roma Camping in Town, a unique campsite that I had stayed at once before. It offers a refreshing escape from the city’s hustle and bustle while still being conveniently close to all the major attractions. The site is well-equipped with spaces for motorhomes and tents, as well as a range of cozy huts. There’s a restaurant, a shop, and a lively bar right next to the swimming pool—perfect for unwinding after a long day of sightseeing. And of course, all the usual camping facilities like laundry were readily available.
What I love most about this campsite is its peaceful, natural setting combined with the comfort of modern amenities. It felt like the perfect place to return to after a full day of exploring the city. My father also enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere, and I was glad I chose to share this place with him.
We didn’t hold back when it came to exploring Rome—we clocked in an average of 20,000 steps per day! It was a full-on, action-packed weekend, but with the warm weather and incredible sights, it was all worth it. The combination of historical exploration and relaxed camping made for an unforgettable weekend in one of the world’s most beautiful cities.
