In May 2018, just a day after the Eurovision Grand Final, I flew to Lisbon, Portugal. It was my first time visiting the city, and I was pleasantly surprised by its vibrant atmosphere, rich history, and beautiful views. From wandering through the narrow streets of Alfama, with its tiled facades and hidden courtyards, to enjoying the lively Praça do Comércio by the waterfront, Lisbon had a charm that immediately drew me in.

One of the highlights of my trip was a day trip to Sintra, where I visited the fairytale-like Pena Palace. Perched high on a hill, the colorful palace offers stunning views of the surrounding area. After exploring the palace, I wandered through the nearby old town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its romantic architecture and historic charm.

I also made my way to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point in mainland Europe. Standing on the cliffs, looking out at the vast Atlantic Ocean, it felt like the edge of the world—a truly breathtaking experience.

Lisbon and its surroundings left a lasting impression on me. Whether you’re exploring the city’s steep hills, historical sites, or taking a trip out to the magical landscapes of Sintra and beyond, there’s always something unique to discover in this corner of Portugal.
