My first experience with Stockholm was during my late teens, when I travelled with a local scouts group from Gdańsk, Poland, on a winter adventure. We stayed in a small wooden hut by a lake outside Stockholm. The cold was so intense that we built an open fire on the frozen lake, playing guitar and singing songs under the starry sky. Although I have no photos from that trip, the memories are etched in my mind.
Fast forward to May 2018, when my father and I went to Stockholm for a weekend getaway. We attended a concert by Callum Scott in an old theatre, adding a special touch to our visit. Exploring the charming streets, we delved into Sweden’s military history at the Army Museum and enjoyed a scenic boat ride in the city centre, offering picturesque views of Stockholm’s waterfront. We also visited the Parliament building.
While Stockholm may not be my favorite European capital, it proved to be an enjoyable destination for a weekend escape. I’m eager to explore more of Sweden in the future, perhaps venturing beyond Stockholm to uncover the hidden gems of this beautiful country. Whether it’s exploring quaint villages or experiencing Sweden’s stunning natural landscapes, I’m excited for the adventures that await.
